In recent weeks, Abbot Jiryu Rutchman-Byler introduced the new Suzuki Roshi book, Becoming Yourself, to members of several Zen communities in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Abbot Jiryu, who co-edited the book with Sojun Mel Weitsman, offered Dharma talks at Brooklyn Zen Center, the Zen Center of New York City (Fire Lotus Temple), and the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care. Several SFZC students and teachers who have moved to New York were in attendance, resulting in many happy reunions. Some attendees were introduced to Suzuki Roshi’s teachings for the first time.
The quick tour of New York City was inspiring for all, with lively discussions in abundance!
